Preparing to Read Kite Runner

On Friday, October 23, we begin reading the novel Kite Runner. Since the novel, set in Afghanistan, introduces the custom and art of kite fighting, please view the video clip attached to this blog and then click on the link below and read a short article that provides more specific information about it. I am sure you will find it very interesting.

  1. I think kite running is so bording it just fly some stupid kites up in the air for hours. The people in Afghanistan take kite running very serious. I don't think it very important and that it not intersiting to me. But even though it's important to them

  2. Kite fighting is a very dangerous sport. People were losing limbs over this sport and children would go to school to show off their battle wounds as it said in the book "Kite Runner." Years ago this sport was very popular in Afghanistan. But now as of today, due to the danger of the sport, this sport is banned by current authorities. I don't know a whole lot about kite fighting but from what i do know it seems like an interesting sport. The only thing about it that I didn't like was the fact that they put glue and some type of sharp object, such as glass, onto the string of the kite. I wouldn't be able to do that because I would eventually get bored of it because of the length of the string. "Would I ever try kite fighting if it was still legal?" I don't know, maybe.

  3. I think that kite fighting is a unique game for Afghanistan. The people who play the game have to be original when making their kites. The kites have to be able to fly for a certain amount of time and be able to be the last one standing. I actually like this game and I wouldn’t have a problem playing it, but I wouldn’t want to have to deal with having bloody hands after every game.
